re: #104 klys (maker of Silmarils)

My pop culture knowledge is terrifyingly specific and full of holes. I know a reasonable amount about films I’ve never seen because of conversation/the Internet, but there’s a lot that can still trip me up.

On the other hand, while in line for Pirates of the Caribbean at Disney on Saturday, we ended up getting sucked into one of those guessing games people play on phones, and the kid wanted to do a Star Wars segment. I was giving him clues, and trying to get him to guess “Kessel Run.”

The obvious clue is that the Millenium Falcon can do it in less than 12 parsecs.

Then again, I had those films memorized when I was younger.

Back before they retooled it, I was always gobsmacked at So You Want to Be a Millionaire? Questions like “What band was some guy you’ve never heard of in before he formed some other band you’ve never heard of?” Those were supposed to be the easy questions. Then some totally basic information about the world we live in was worth $1,000,000 because nobody could be expected to know that! Totally bass-ackwards.
