So, it’s either capable of waiting out the immune reaction in isolated pockets of the body or, more horrifyingly, it’s actually inserts itself into another type of cell from the one it normally replicates in and goes dormant, waiting out the body’s immune response there. For an analogy imagine chicken pox turning into shingles played on fast forward, possibly because it’s a novel virus.

Either way, not good news, it really demonstrates how important it is to stomp on new diseases quickly and how much crucial time we lost.
