Carter has this defend-the-underdog streak with Palestine. He’s wrong about that and many things, but I see it as more of a symptom of a psychological tick. His record on North Korea is also somewhat at odds with reality. OTOH, he’s risked life and limb serving in u-boats and built more home for poor people than me, so I won’t complain too loud.
He’s not the only one to project their psychological issues on to the Israel/Palestine thing. Some of us do Israel no favors when we are frightened to be critical when it’s needed.
At one time i thought Carter a good man. But his turn towards the Palestinians has been maintained beyond all reason and sense. He has never once really demanded they do anything; All the pressure is on Israel. That is a mark of grave moral blindness and intellectual dishonesty.
