E gad, Kafka. I only read one of his stories, The Metamorphosis. I made the mistake of reading it all in one sitting first thing in the morning—it totally ruined my whole day. I’ve never read anything so depressing before or since, and never read any of his other works for fear of running into something similar. It was just wayyyyy too dark for me.

I just finished Gila Lustiger’s “The Inventory”.
I’ve written many a book review in my career, but this book has left me with no words to say other than “o.m.g.”
