That’s as good a working theory as any.

If he was unwilling to go along with the Trump insistence on shredding the rule of law, he should come forward and not just say “unforeseen circumstances”.

These were foreseeable circumstances - Trump made it known for years that he wouldn’t tolerate any election he lost and would challenge the results because he considers those voting against him illegitimate.

But if he remains silent, this guy puts party over nation, just as so many other GOPers have done with frightening regularity these days.
