Those folks have no idea of what gourmet is. As I have posted here many times before I again offer a link to DiBruno Bros. They do have some foreign names on their products but they will be more than happy to explain it all to you.

Familiar with DiBruno. In contrast to the sandwich cultists, “Antipasti” is about as exotic a name as they use (great products too). The rest includes such things as “salami,” “bacon,” and “crackers.”
Truth is, I think a lot of the sandwich shop’s convoluted terminology is based on pretense, a badly outdated one at that. A hundred years ago, knowing European food names, but not languages, was an indication that you had taken the Grand Tour and were therefore part of the gentry at least. If I’m in Italy, I can order a meal in Italian. I don’t really spreak the language but I can get by well enough to understand the menu descriptions.
