The ID check to complete the purchase and take possession of the weapon should be the same as the ID check needed to cast your vote. No more and no less.

Here in DC, that would mean that I just have to say, “Hi, I’m [Occasional Reader], I’m here to pick up my gun.” That would be just the same as our ironclad voter i.d. procedures.
