Compared to the worst that we humans have done? Had Gandhi gone up against a German occupation of India he would have had spring loaded guillotine and an unmarked grave. Any one that protested would have gotten the same. See The White Rose for the courage of real examples.

The Brits were no saints. They were still no where as evil as they could have been.
