Are there any good guys in the fighting in Ukraine. It just looks to me like bunches of heavily armed thugs with civilians caught in the middle.

There are the legitimate Ukrainian military forces fighting for the sovereign right of Ukraine against the illegitimate Russian backed rebel forces.
