I remember reading years and years ago that tomatoes were once regarded as evil. Of course, I read that in “Ripley’s Believe it or Not!” so take it with a grain of salt, LOL.

Tomatoes are part of the Nightshade family, bad. The story is more likely that Europeans were cautious when tomatoes were first introduced to Europe.
