Yeah, I really don’t why the movie was a problem in the first place. I thought Alanis Morrisette was an excellent G-d.

Perhaps graphically showing the angel Gabriel’s (Michael? whoever) lack of genitalia was the issue?

I’m not totally sure. It was a bit nutty and over the top, but people reacted with such anger. I thought it was, overall, a theologically respectful take.
