re: #112 Feline Fearless Leader

Insufficient details if you think it through.

Had the girl been trained at all about home defense by her parents?
How was the weapon secured, and what kind of weapon was it? (note that the article did not specify it was a pistol, shotgun, etc.)
Would the child have been better off fleeing the house and seeking assistance rather than hiding in a closet with a gun?

It’s also unclear whether the intruder suspected there was anyone in the house, therefore if he actually encountered the girl, the result could have simply been him fleeing.

From that and the other articles I’ve seen:
No, she wasn’t trained in home defense by her parents.
The weapon, a Glock 40, was in the parents’ bedroom in an unlocked location.
Given she called her parents after he’d broken in, I’d suggest trying to flee wasn’t in the options. Mom’s the one who told her to grab the gun and hide in the closet.

I’ve got some niggling concerns about this, but will wait to see what develops.
