I’m not sure about that. Neoconservatism is driven by hyper-Americanism. The problem with some very religious evangelical groups is that they can be pacifists, or at least have pacifists in their midsts, which gets in the way of the continual war impulse of the neoconservatives. Cruz’s father is still fighting his Cuban version of the cold war so to that extent Ted Cruz fits the neoconservative mold, but I am quite sure that neoconservative masterminds are not really the same crowd as the very evangelical crowd. The former simply use the latter as needed.

My understanding of the neoconservative movement is that it is an outgrowth of Cold War strategy and the so-called military-industrial complex. They don’t want a multi-polar world. They believe that the US should be the single dominant power in the world.
