This is the problem with so much “design” and “home improvement” - it’s not really how life happens.

Working with tools (and the kitchen is full of tools) means having lots and lots of light.

The issue with so much house construction and remodeling is that designers want to put their mark on things, and that almost always means a “look”. Damn the other sense, damn the real function, it’s “style” that they are after.
