My sister “met” her husband that way. It was a bit more targeted than the wrong area code. Her roomie was trying to figure out the phone number of a guy she was interested in, so she talked my sister into calling every guy with this particular name in the Houston phone book. (We’re talking 1983 here, y’all.) My sister happened upon someone she thought was the right guy, because he’d recently been on a trip, but when she asked, “How was Philly?” he said, “Philly? I went to La Grange.” Turns out it was not the right guy, but this guy wanted to know more about the girl who had the balls to call strange guys.

They’ve been married (with bumps) 36 years next month.
