Well, yeah, that would be a downside.

I really have no idea so far. The ones that are sort of grown-ups (Daniels?) look to be too obscure to pull it off. Maybe if 3 or 4 of the crazies split the tea party vote Mitch or someone like him might sneak by, but that seems unlikely to me.

But the names we all know now are kind of crazy, except Romney, who will change identities another 3 or 4 times between now and Iowa.

All of that uncertainty makes the idea of a poll more fun.
