I think our society has become burnt out from all the chatter.

Monkeys that we are, we chatter quite a bit. Now, with all our fancy electronic tools we can turn up the volume on the chatter to deafening levels.

Deep down in the older parts of our brains the flood of signals coming in from the aural and visual channels have backed up the neural sewer system, so to speak.
