Perhaps I should simplify. As shown at the rally above, when the extreme views run the agenda no good comes out of it. Nothing changes. The media gets ratings, blogs get hits, ads get clicks. The policy remains the same.

But the extreme view on the ‘liberal’ side doesn’t run the agenda. The extreme view on the ‘conservative’ side, does.

The way that the 4th amendment stuff will change is via the courts, and Sotomayor and Kagan’s appointments are the two biggest things that can help to change 4th amendment law. They got onto the Supreme Court not thanks to the extreme views of anyone, but due to the ‘middle’.
