Where I grew up there are cemeteries filled with the graves of people who all died from the spanish flu, all within days of each other. Most of them were kids and the elderly. You can literally go grave to grave and count the days in between each.

Actually, the 1918 flu tended to kill adults in the prime of life, as opposed to the usual flu fatality pattern of the elderly and very young.
