re: #1214 avanti

Yes, I do. If some kid in West Virgina is getting a substandard education, they should get more federal help then a rich state that has first class schools for example. Yep, that’s income redistribution on the federal level and it’s not new.

No, redistribution isn’t new. We all know THAT.

Thank you for your reply.

I admire your choice of education as an example. It is the one area where most people have socialist sympathies, including myself. And roads. Beyond that, I cannot stand socialism.

But we know spending does not equal quality. Or even correlate, really.

West Virginia, BTW, spends about $10000/year/pupil. For reference, my children’s private school is about $4000/year/pupil and all the kids score in the top 20% nationwide.

DC spends about $16,500/year/pupil. D.C.’s graduation rate is 69%. West Virginia’s rate is between 77-84%.

The lowest, BTW, were Arizona and Utah, at just over $5,500 each. WIth graduation rates at 75-85%, about the same as WV. And much better than DC.
