If the vehicle with the victim in it hadn’t left the scene and it could be proven that no weapons had been in it I think the jury probably would have opted for a conviction on the murder charge.

So remember folks, when some angry white dude is shooting the shit out of your vehicle over the volume on your stereo don’t try to flee. You need to stay there regardless of the consequences in order to preserve the integrity of the trial evidence. Otherwise your leaving the scene will be seen as an admission that you had evidence in the vehicle that had to be discarded/disposed of before the police arrive.
