Isn’t the first step to attract developers to the Mac? Wouldn’t Apple have to reach out to them?

The company I’m trying to get an internship at ports PC games to Mac. And the Mac now has Steam, so they’re in a position to attract more people to them as a gaming platform.

The problem is, PCs are far more flexible in terms of hardware upgrades than Macs are, and that’s a big thing for hardcore PC gamers. How do you sell the idea of gaming on a Mac when you’re severely limited in what you can use? For a PC gamer, if your video card isn’t enough, you upgrade. For a Mac user, you’re pretty much screwed.
