Oh, and if you’re looking for something to do during the day while your husband is at the conference:

- Down at the “Old Town” state park, which is very central and easy to locate, is a shopping street that’s supposed to recreate 19th century San Diego. It fails at that (it’s just another tourist trap), and most of the stores carry the usual cheaply made tourist-trap items, but a couple of the stores also carry hand made goods from local crafts-people, from both here and from Mexico. If you’re looking for mementos/gifts that have more authenticity to them I’d suggest trying there.
