I know, I am honestly stumped trying to think of an issue they’ve been right and the left wrong. I really can’t think of anyone. Not trying to sound overly partisan but I really do think liberalism’s virtues over conservatism’s are proved by that.

It’s worth noting that conservatism as a defined political philosophy (as opposed to mindless traditionalism) started as a reaction to the excesses of the French Revolution. That kind of conservatism has its uses in times of over-enthusiastic reform and change for its own sake.

However, the US has never gone though anything like the upheavals of the French Revolution, and so US conservatism, having no proper purpose, has turned into all the worst elements of US society banding together to oppose all progress and to undo all past progress.
