Here’s a pic looking north up our street. This was early evening of the 19th, just as it was starting to clear a bit for the evening.

There are mountains behind that smoke!

Brookings is unusual in that it’s on the west coast and it faces south. This affects our weather quite a bit and it’s not unusual for us to be the warmest spot on the Oregon coast, even in the winter. It is also what gives us our “Chetco Effect”, which is our version of the Santa Ana winds except ours can happen any time of the year, even in the winter. A few years ago it was in the mid 60-70’s for a couple of weeks in January so I hauled our motorcycle out for some fun winter riding.

We don’t miss Spokane a bit (moved here 25 years ago).
