A letter from Lou Pritchett to President #44

I can’t answer all of Lou’s concerns, but let me take a stab at some of them.

You scare me because after months of exposure, I know nothing about you.

Really? After two best-selling books and a two-year campaign, which included dozens of debates, dozens of speeches and constant press availability — followed by an inauguration that included yet more speeches, and now almost six months in office that include so far several foreign trips with still more speeches and press conferences, daily press releases, dozens of appointments of people whose own views are well-known, several major pieces of legislation…. you still know nothing about him? Really? You’re just not paying attention.

You scare me because I do not know how you paid for your expensive Ivy League education and your upscale lifestyle and housing with no visible signs of support.

Did I mention the two best-selling books? Took care of all his student loans, with enough left over to fill his kids’ college accounts and buy a nice house. Then there’s the 3 years worth of income tax returns that have been publicly released. Close to 900k for 2008, I’d hardly call that “no visible means of support.”

You scare me because you have never had military experience, thus don’t understand it at its core.

Which is such a sharp contrast to the grounded TANG-president and his 5-deferrments VP.

You scare me because you want to change America to a European style country where the government sector dominates instead of the private sector.
You scare me because you want to replace our health care system with a government controlled one.
You scare me because you prefer ‘wind mills’ to responsibly capitalizing on our own vast oil, coal and shale reserves.
You scare me because you want to kill the American capitalist goose that lays the golden egg which provides the highest standard of living in the world.

If you feel certain these things are true, why did you say you know nothing about him?

You scare me because your own political party shrinks from challenging you on your wild and irresponsible spending proposals.

In contrast to how congressional Republicans so vigorously obstructed overspending by their party’s… oh right, that didn’t happen.

You scare me because you will not openly listen to or even consider opposing points of view from intelligent people.

You mean like inviting members of the opposition to the White House repeatedly and soliciting their input into the stimulus bill? Like sitting down to dinner with half a dozen top conservative columnists? Having members of the opposition party as Secretary of Defense, Secretary of the Army, Secretary of Transportation, Nat’l Endowment for the Humanities and Ambassador to China?

You scare me because you demonize and want to silence the Limbaughs, Hannitys, O’Relllys and Becks who offer opposing, conservative points of view.

He’s certainly ridiculed the Limbaugh etcs… in what way has he ever done anything to try to silence them?

Finally, you scare me because if you serve a second term I will probably not feel safe in writing a similar letter in 8 years.
