I’m reminded of a campaign PETA had going a few years ago, trying to get fishing outlawed. They would send a guy dressed in a fish suit to stand outside a school - just off school property - and harangue students about the evils and cruelty of fishing as they were dismissed.

They tried that here in Detroit one day. The students were, of course, curious. At first. When they figured out that Mr. Fishy was basically an asshole, they started yelling insults at him. Then the shoving started. With Mr. Fishy on the ground, the kicking got going, as Mr. Fishy’s normally dressed friends came to his rescue and got the hell out of Dodge.

PETA tried pressing charges, but everyone involved was way too young to prosecute as anything other than a juvenile, and because they were off school property the school district couldn’t be held liable (PETA’s search for deep pockets to shake down becoming rather obvious at this point.)

As far as I know, PETA has never tried such a moronic stunt again in Detroit.

Not that I’m encouraging the 0bama children or anyone else to emulate such behavior, of course. Just pointing out certain similarities.

Heh. I’d love to see PETA dress in sheep costumes and stand outside the mosques during Eid Al Adha.

I was accosted by a PETA when I was in Israel last September, passing out pamphlets in Jerusalem about “kapparos.” I wasn’t planning on performing kapparos in Jerusalem, but just because this PETA idiot reminded me, I went to the Mahane Yehuda market and did kapporos there.
