Why are you taking all of Islam on the one hand and a distinct sect of Christianity on the other?

I am simply pointing out what I perceive to be a bit of a double standard, and the recent example of the Vatican’s conduct came to mind. It seemed to me that there was a very healthy interest in what American Catholics thought about the issue, and I didn’t hear people avoiding the issue or seeking to stifle the discussion because it was happening in Rome or Europe.
