Well.
NOPD has always been crap.
I suspect it’s even worse right now, for whatever reason I don’t know - lame duck administration, lack of leadership.

There’s a new mayor - Mitch Landrieu, who will take office in May. So we’ll see how it plays out.

The “tourist” areas are usually well-protected, but not these days. There have been shootings, with innocent bystanders getting hurt, on CANAL street even (major street there, not out of the way or a backstreet in any way, shape or form). Things are just out of control.
