Oh, it’s out there.
It’s usually, don’t blame me for what my forefathers did (slavery, etc.), immediately followed by pointing out the glories of Western Civ. and how they were the product of their forefathers.

Yep. I had some guy once ask if I wasn’t proud of my white heritage, what with all that white folks had accomplished.

I said, “Why should I be proud of that stuff? I didn’t do any of it.” And of course as you say, we’re supposed to be proud of all the accomplishments of Western Civilization, but not include stuff like slavery, genocide, and progressively more destructive wars killing ever larger numbers of people. The Western Civilization that gave us Magna Carta and the Constitution also gave us the Crusades, the Thirty Years War, the Spanish Inquisition, the genocide of the Native Americans, the Reign of Terror, and the Holocaust. The Internet and the Thermonuclear Bomb.

But all that bad stuff? No Real Scotsman would have done that shit.
