My folks barely smoked and weren’t smoking when I was a kid. As a teen most of my friends smoked. I didn’t start until I was about 30 years old.

There are a lot health risks in many legal substances. If one argues that smoking is harmful for environmental reason as well as health reasons then that at least covers other harmful substances and foods that are for the time being, “legal.”

On the food end it could become a matter of “controlling” what foods are being served. I made a joke about “2nd hand meat” earlier but what is stopping them from banning cooking odors in public places if they find those air borne particles to be harmful to human health.

I’m sure the food police are on their way. The “obese” are the new target of the nannies. That whole SUV thing didn’t work out so well for them … they’re still highly popular.
