I’m actually kind of dreading it. The Republican candidates were really funny for a while but now they’re starting to scare me. One of them could be the next president.

If anything, I think these debates have already served a purpose. Without them, Bachmann or Perry would have had a chance to build up more of a following, rivaling or even surpassing Romney for the nomination going into the primaries.

Now? The debates have turned Bachmann’s candidacy into a hollow shell of its former self and tonight’s may be the killing blow for Perry’s own campaign. At the very least, this means a very divided field that will yield a lackluster nominee come next year.
