I knew quite a few of those types when I posted on a conservative/liberal forum in Bush’s second term. It honestly shocked me because I thought CSA fans were the fringest of the right and that most conservatives more or less agreed that the Union was right and that Lincon > Davis but nope. The odd thing was one guy was IIRC descended from Southern Unionists like you yourself are.

This Michigander was stationed throughout Dixie in his Navy career.

Never has I seen unreconstructed Confederates as anything but the mainstream of Movement Conservative.
