I see it as a sign of true desperation. He really hoped he had a winner there with his chloroquinine, and had it worked, even to a limited degree, he would have been able to sell himself as a hero, visionary and savior of the economy and millions of lives.

He could have ridden that wave to re-election with ease.

Desperation will be the driving force in the GOP this year. Too many of these fuckers have engaged in crimes that are too blatant to wave away. If they don’t win, they do time. There isn’t much they won’t do to avoid that.
