Also, war is a problem for Hobbes’ theory. That nation states go to war with each other, sometimes for no perceivable gain, sometimes just for advancement is not something predicted in his theory. It is kind of the opposite of what you’re saying.

Let me quote you some Hobbes:

Hobbes’ theory in a nutshell “Without the state, there is war. With the state, there is a chance for there not to be war.”

His first contention is somewhat unprovable but to the extent it can be tested is wrong. The second one is more true: states have more chance of avoiding war than anarchic groups do, but it’s again relatively untestable.
