Whatever we’ve done in the past, we can’t look aside and do nothing now just because the US has done harm in the past, and we fear doing harm again. I’m waiting for Ilhan Omar to go on Twitter to say she won’t vote yes on some resolution on Ukraine, because we committed genocide against Native Americans in the past. (Tara Reade and her fellow bots have been making this point.)

All I know about Ilhan Omar’s position on Ukraine is that she retweeted Mehdi Hassan on Putin ‘s contributions to Ukrainian solidarity — why would you expect her to do any such thing? (I can think of one or two more likely candidates on the democratic side, but I’m hoping from some party discipline, in a situation as grave as this one.)
