I did a little reading and found out that many, many polling places in multiple states were worried about people with firrearms showing up - in 2020. Even Texas does not allow guns within 100 feet of a polling place unless it is by an officer or the polling judge. It is a felony to attempt to bypass the rule. Many states put an armed officer as a sargeant at arms to ‘welcome’ people and prevent intimidation……

In one of our county’s deep rural precincts (firehouse) an armed sheriff’s deputy dropped by a couple times during the long day. In a sense that could be reassuring, but with our state’s history it could also be seen as intimidating in itself. Basically depends on whose side is carrying.
