I think the lawyer is saying the only thing possible-his client is insane.

Except I don’t think the guy was insane at all. Insane is someone like Andrea Yates — so consumed by your mental illness that right and wrong no longer exist.

This guy not only wrote out what he was going to do, but planned it far enough in advance. He bombed a building to distract the cops. He knew exactly what he was doing since he’s called it regrettable, but necessary.

That’s not insane. That’s cold and calculating.
