I suspect it’s another case of wingnuts discounting 30+ years of inflation, like they do when they say, “Why don’t kids work their way through college like I did, waiting tables 10 hours a week?”, or “My first job only paid $1.60 an hour!”, as if that means something.

My first job, back in the 60s, was 35 cents an hour as a dishwasher in the restaurant where my mom worked as a waitress for 60 cents an hour.
