The big problem with Schneiderman’s resignation is not that it takes a powerful ally off the field, but rather that it will help the White House continue to push their “WITCH HUNT!!!!” narrative, insisting that the men investigating Trump and his close friends/business partners are bad actors who themselves are truly the corrupt members of “the swamp.” That the investigations are an effort to cover up real crimes by those men or their associates and in the process remove a duly-elected president from office.

While I don’t believe that the accusations are falsified, I do believe that someone may have let the White House know days in advance that this story was close to publication and that’s why they felt overly confident that their “salvation” lay in the courts.
