As a result of Trump’s actions in the Mideast, we will (as many MAGAts actually want) withdraw all our forces and become irrelevant, while Iran becomes the major power in the area. Trump is a member of the Pat Buchanan wing of the Republican Party (racist, misogynist, isolationist and his policies are theocratic— though of course Trump cares nothing about religion). When Trump is finished, Putin will have achieved his greatest dream, making the United States irrelevant not just in the Mideast, but on the entire world stage.

There is an alternative Tinfoilish theory that a friend told me last night. That those pushing toward conflict with Iran are evangelical fanatics actively trying to bring on Armageddon. And Pompeo definitely is an evangelical fanatic.
