Unfortunately I’ve never seen a satellite plan that wasn’t a complete disaster on multiple levels. Price, speeds, caps, and the impossible latency numbers…
Locally, people off the cable and DSL grids tend to find the next option is cellular modem/tethering. It’s not a great option, but if you have the signal then the plans are usually national deals, not locally-priced gouging. If you’re waaaaay off the map that may not be an option.
There are a couple of companies around here which sell direct tower-to-tower wireless, even to residential clients. The startup costs on that tend to be fearsome unless you luck out on LOS, though. And weather has a tendency to break things.
The bold text is what I use at my secondary residence (AT&T go phone “unlimited” data” plan). If memory serves me well. AM is in a cell dead zone. That’s why I was asking/wondering about satellite service.
