At the rate things are going, we’re more likely to end up with a future like The Expanse: Earth reduced to a polluted, flooded shell of its former self as humanity begins settling other planets just to get away from its mistakes.

That’s basically the cyberpunk future extended out to a few hundred years high-tech dystopia.

Or as the saying in the Cyberpunk genre goes: High-tech, Low-Life. The only good thing about Earth in the Expanse is Universal Basic Income.
