re: #130 Feline Fearless Leader

For the those who are geologically curious about the photo - it’s Paleozoic sedimentary rocks in northwestern Malaysia. Siltstone, sandstone, and upper layers of limestone that have been heavily folded and partially metamorphized. From a quarry made into the edge of a bukit (hill). Most of the quarries in Malaysia are like this since the water table is quite high.

Many of the bukits also have caves since they’re karst formation where rain water percolates through them from the top, dissolves limestone on the way down, and flows out the bottom. Rain more, and repeat. Also some lower level caves from the land being lower (or sea higher) and thus allowing cave formation due to direct erosion by wave action.

i was geologically curious but then i had a sedimentary experience and now i feel metamorphic
