It’s like the Left Behind films, which of course are getting their own reboot, namely films made by some person(s) with a shitload of money who desire to see the book put on film regardless of how much money is lost in the process. Probably abusing the ever-loving fuck out of tax loopholes to write off the loss.

But Left Behind will actually make money; evangelical subculture has a very limited range of “acceptable” books and movies they’re allowed to see, they’ll flock to anything on the permitted list. Probably multiple times. It won’t do as well as that Mel Gibson Jesus movie, because the Catholics won’t be along for the ride, but there’ll be millions of viewers nonetheless.
