There is far too much deference given to the need to be “polite”.

And a fear that being harsh will cost votes is misplaced.

But again I get back to my old soapbox. The Democratic party is still reliant on voting blocks that in some ways are very conservative in particulars, such as religious beliefs.

I understand that many Democrats in office in districts that are composed of these cultural “moderates” (really they are conservative but seem to like the milquetoast term “moderate”) fear that they can’t be the flaming secularists that, say, we out here in California can be.

Yet I hope that time will keep undercutting the old ways. That as the old folk die off so will this hobbling of the Democratic Party.
