Also our kleptocrats may be better than the Russian oligarchs at getting what they want without resorting to brute force. In effect, the path taken may be dissimilar, but the results may end up being the same.

Agree: the danger is very very real, and brute force will not be used in the future. They caught the West napping with what is essentially a modern psy op against the entire population, but we need to make sure that everyone knows this, expects this, and protects against this in the future.
