re: #118 Dark_Falcon

You’re lucky. I’m the same age as WUB and I have to be up at 6am tomorrow to go to work.

I had my own hell a few years ago, the constant swing shifts that turned into grave shifts because the relief staff didn’t show up, necessitating that I work two shifts straight, from 2pm to 6am, with zero notice under threat of firing. basically because about half my coworkers sucked on ice. Which then of course ruined my sleep schedule for the next two days and gave me insomnia.

Which is why I quit my day job! I felt like I was literally losing money by staying there. I have a lot of work I have to get done each day, but I don’t get hosed. i’d rather work more and have more control.

it wasn’t luck though, it was just persistence. if you do something for over 20 years, you tend to get good at it, and you start to be able to charge people for it. And eventually, you make a job out of it. Hard work pays off and stuff.
