I went to go find that gender-swapped Kirk picture, and found this as well:

I don’t mind since I like both universes, but I can imagine the people screaming heresy.

The purists always bothered me. To me, sci-fi is sci-fi; I grew up a Star Wars originalist, but I grew into the Star Trek and Stargate universes almost naturally. Still need to catch up on some of the other space operas, though.
