Good morning.

Hurricane Fiona struck Nova Scotia early this morning, causing significant damage and leaving half a million customers without electric power. The storm then struck Îles de la Madeleine, flooding the whole island.

Fiona is now in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, headed in our direction just off the coast. Hurricane warnings have been extended north up the Great Northern Peninsula. We should get the worst this afternoon or this evening.

The Weather Network just quipped that this won’t be a good time to be in Happy Valley, Labrador.

I think we’ll stay put today rather than go out and tour.
